Aim and Scope

San Diego State University (Q47490683) is participating in the PCC Wikidata Pilot Project with the following aims and scope:

  • Align with the PCC Strategic Directions, especially “the movement toward ubiquitous identifier creation and identity management at the network level”
  • Participate in linked open data projects that support the value we place on open scholarship at SDSU Library
  • Provide an opportunity for all SDSU catalogers to become versed and comfortable in working within Wikidata
  • Enhance SDSU catalogers understanding of linked open data models and practices
  • Create an inclusive environment for metadata creators in all parts of the library to participate
  • Promote the visibility of San Diego State University institutional data, especially faculty, researchers, departments, and centers
  • Promote the visibility of unique San Diego State University Library items related to special, archival, and/or digital collections
